Facilities Operations Manager (Fusion Energy)

Salary: $143,000–$168,000 annually

Fusion power company developing the Polaris prototype and pursuing the construction of the Orion fusion power plant to provide clean, reliable electricity.

What you will do

• Lead and develop the facilities operations team through clear expectations, workload planning, coaching, and accountability.
• Manage day-to-day facilities operations across multiple sites, including maintenance, environmental services, staffing coverage, vendors, stakeholder communication, and issue resolution.
• Own the CMMS, asset records, preventive maintenance programs, and maintenance and replacement priorities.
• Oversee inspections, servicing, and corrective actions for building systems and industrial equipment in partnership with EHS and Security.
• Build scalable operational processes, use performance metrics to identify recurring issues, and coordinate lasting improvements.
• Represent Facilities Operations in standups and executive discussions, communicating risks, trade-offs, recommendations, and next steps.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in facilities operations or related roles, including direct people management and team development.
• Experience leading operations in a startup, high-growth, or similarly rigorous environment.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems.
• Experience owning and configuring CMMS platforms, developing preventive maintenance programs, managing assets, and overseeing vendors.
• Ability to make sound decisions with incomplete information and resolve recurring problems without compromising safety or quality.
• Strong written and verbal communication with frontline employees, technical partners, and executives.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting manufacturing, hardware development, R&D, or other technically complex facilities.
• Hands-on maintenance or trade experience.
