What you will do

• Perform complex molecular procedures in a clinical laboratory while following established protocols.
• Use molecular techniques including quantitative PCR, next-generation sequencing, nucleic acid extraction, DNA/RNA quantification and qualification, and genotyping.
• Identify protocol deviations, troubleshoot common issues, and implement authorized solutions.
• Perform quality control, calibration, equipment maintenance, and proficiency testing.
• Enter clinical patient data into the Laboratory Information Management System and maintain laboratory competency.
• Support sterilization of laboratory equipment and workspaces.

Requirements

• MS or BS in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science.
• 0–6 years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience in molecular biology.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and carry out scientific programs with minimal direction.
• Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment.
• Ability to maintain protocols in accordance with CAP, CLIA, and NYSDOH regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with next-generation sequencing.
• Experience in a CLIA/CAP high-complexity laboratory.
• Experience with robotics and automated liquid-handling systems.
• Knowledge of LIMS platforms and other computer systems.
