Tutor (Special Education/Mandarin)

Location: In-person tutoring in San Marino, California, United States

Pay rate: $25–$35 per hour

What you will do

• Provide one-on-one in-home instruction aligned with each student's Individualized Education Plan.
• Strengthen English language development, vocabulary, reading comprehension, phonics, fluency, sentence development, and written communication.
• Teach foundational math concepts with appropriate language supports.
• Use Mandarin strategically to clarify concepts and support English language acquisition.
• Teach executive functioning skills, including organization, planning, time management, self-monitoring, and task completion.
• Monitor academic and language progress, adjust instruction, and promote confidence, communication, resilience, and independence.

Requirements

• Fluency in Mandarin and English is required.
• Special education experience, including experience supporting students with ADHD and executive functioning challenges.
• Experience supporting English Language Learners or multilingual students.
• Strong knowledge of English language development, literacy, academic language, foundational math, and differentiated instruction.
• Ability to use visual supports, modeling, repetition, multisensory strategies, and structured practice.
• Ability to provide in-person tutoring in San Marino, California.
