Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote in Canada; full-time residence and work in Canada required. Some roles may require proximity to offices in Toronto, Calgary, or Vancouver.

What you will do

• Develop, test, and deploy scalable software solutions for complex business needs.
• Contribute to system architecture decisions focused on configurability and long-term maintainability.
• Design, implement, and maintain production AI features including RAG systems, vector search, LLM integrations, and autonomous agents.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver customer-facing features.
• Optimize performance, security, reliability, and code quality through testing and code reviews.
• Mentor engineers on modern engineering practices, TypeScript typing, AI prompting, and complex refactoring.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building scalable, enterprise-grade software.
• Experience working in a fast-paced software startup or scale-up environment.
• Production experience shipping and operating AI features in a live product.
• Strong full-stack proficiency with JavaScript/TypeScript and the MEAN stack: MongoDB, Express, Angular, and Node.
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools, automated testing with Jest, Cypress, or Playwright, CI/CD, Docker, and cloud infrastructure.
• Must be able to live and work full-time in Canada.

Nice to have

• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, vector search, or search indexing.
• Security-first approach to handling sensitive corporate data.
• Ability to explain technical and AI trade-offs to non-technical partners.
