TL;DR
Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Equipment (Aerospace & Defense): Developing, installing, qualifying, and sustaining solid rocket motor processing equipment for hypersonic strike weapons with an accent on mixing, vacuum casting, spraying, lining, tooling, and high-rate production scale-up. Focus on commissioning hazardous-environment equipment, building closed-loop equipment data pipelines, improving uptime and throughput, and integrating safety, automation, and regulatory requirements.

Location: Rio Rancho, New Mexico, United States; support for manufacturing sites in Midland, Texas and New Mexico. The role requires access to ITAR-controlled information, U.S. person status, and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

Company

hirify.global develops affordable, rapidly producible hypersonic strike weapons for the U.S. military and is building high-rate manufacturing capability.

What you will do

  • Own the design, procurement, installation, commissioning, qualification, and sustainment of solid rocket motor processing equipment.
  • Develop specifications, acceptance criteria, calibration programs, preventive maintenance, spare-parts strategies, and operator training.
  • Scale prototype and research-build equipment into low-rate and full-rate production systems, improving throughput, repeatability, uptime, cycle time, and yield.
  • Design tooling and fixtures in SolidWorks or NX using GD&T, and manage fabrication with machine shops and suppliers.
  • Partner with automation and controls engineers on PLC/HMI systems, safety interlocks, robotic handling, vision systems, MES integration, and SPC data pipelines.
  • Support hazard analyses, explosives-site planning, regulatory compliance, supplier management, facility build-out, documentation, and mentoring of junior engineers and technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, Aerospace, Electrical/Controls Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of manufacturing or equipment engineering experience, including installation, qualification, sustainment, and production scale-up.
  • Experience with automated or semi-automated process equipment, PLC-based controls, instrumentation, safety interlocks, pneumatics, hydraulics, vacuum systems, fluid metering, dispensing, and motion control.
  • Proficiency in CAD, SolidWorks or NX, GD&T, and tooling and fixture design, with knowledge of hazardous-location equipment design, grounding, bonding, ESD control, and remote operations.
  • Must be a U.S. person under ITAR requirements and hold or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
  • Safety-first, data-driven approach with strong communication, reliability, continuous improvement, supplier-management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Three or more years of hands-on experience with solid rocket motor or energetic material processing equipment in aerospace or defense.

Culture & Benefits

  • Early-stage environment with significant ownership and direct impact on advanced defense systems.
  • Fast transition from design to flight test and production.
  • Collaboration across engineering, production, maintenance, quality, and suppliers.
  • Generous benefits package.
