Automation Engineer (Biopharma)

Location: Swiftwater, Pennsylvania, United States; US and Puerto Rico residents only

Salary: $75,000–$108,333.33 per year

What you will do

• Support, monitor, troubleshoot, and improve site-wide manufacturing automation systems, including PLCs, SCADA, DCS, building automation, and related control systems.
• Integrate automation systems with digital applications supporting production, quality control, data management, historians, and enterprise systems.
• Develop specifications, test protocols, design documents, and validation deliverables in compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements.
• Lead design reviews, user acceptance testing, change controls, risk management, and investigations of process deviations.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Facilities, Tech Transfer, Engineering, IT, Maintenance, and Operations teams.
• Provide training, post-implementation support, contractor coordination, and rotating off-shift on-call support.

Requirements

• 2+ years of direct automation systems and automation support experience in biopharma or a related industry preferred.
• Knowledge of DCS, including DeltaV; SCADA, including Aveva; PLCs; and manufacturing automation technologies.
• Understanding of machine connectivity and data acquisition from PLCs to higher-level applications using technologies such as OPC.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electrical, chemical, mechanical, automation, computer science, biotechnology, or a related technical field; relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Written and spoken English proficiency required.
