Automation Engineer II (Industrial Automation)

Location: Marlborough, Massachusetts, United States; onsite role

Salary: $100,000–$145,000 per year, plus eligible bonus, commission, and equity programs

What you will do

• Develop, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC, HMI, industrial computer, and SCADA applications for automated tangential flow filtration equipment.
• Program and support Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and AutomationDirect PLC platforms, including Wonderware System Platform applications.
• Troubleshoot scripts, SQL queries, control-system interfaces, industrial networks, and protocols including OPC UA/DA, Modbus, PROFINET, EtherCAT, and DeltaV.
• Participate in design and risk reviews, FAT, SAT, commissioning, deployment, and lifecycle maintenance of custom automated skids.
• Apply version control, configuration management, documentation control, and formal change-management practices in a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Provide technical support and training to engineering, manufacturing, quality, service, customers, field personnel, and contractors.

Requirements

• Five or more years of experience in automation, controls, software, or industrial systems engineering.
• Hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting PLC-based control systems and HMI/SCADA applications.
• Working knowledge of industrial control-system integration, instrumentation, electrical controls, networks, and communication protocols.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, control narratives, P&IDs, I/O lists, user requirements, and technical specifications.
• Experience creating functional and software design specifications, test protocols, controlled documentation, and change records.
• Strong troubleshooting, technical writing, communication, project ownership, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with commitment to safety and PPE requirements.

Nice to have

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, DeltaV, iFix, or AutomationDirect C-more.
• Experience with cGMP, computer system validation, and GAMP 5 environments.
• Programming or scripting experience with Python, VBScript, C/C++, or SQL.
