Engineer 1 - Process Development (Biotech)

Base salary: $68,400–$102,600 per year

What you will do

• Sustain, troubleshoot, and improve bonding equipment and automated manufacturing systems for high-volume production.
• Own manufacturing performance metrics including yield, utilization, throughput, efficiency, and process capability.
• Apply materials, mechanical, process, and systems knowledge to improve manufacturability and process control.
• Develop experimental plans, DOEs, SPC responses, risk assessments, and test plans for production support and new product transfers.
• Develop and maintain Camstar MES models and automation workflows.
• Support equipment qualifications, site transfers, remote troubleshooting, safety assessments, investigations, validations, and regulated documentation.

Requirements

• 0–2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
• Hands-on troubleshooting experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, automation, instrumentation, or process systems.
• Strong computer skills involving data analysis, automation systems, and manufacturing execution systems.
• Ability to work across Manufacturing, Quality, and engineering teams with strong written and verbal communication.
• Experience with process or product development lifecycles and basic project management.
• This role is based in San Diego, California, United States, and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, chemical, semiconductor, medical device, or other high-tech manufacturing.
• Experience with bonding, assembly, precision automation, or other automated manufacturing equipment.
• Experience in regulated or quality-driven high-volume manufacturing.
• Experience with SPC, DOEs, statistical analysis, Camstar MES, or multi-site manufacturing support.
