Sr Software Engineer – API Platform, Product Engineering (Python/Typescript)

Location: Pleasanton, California, United States; at least 50% of each quarter in the office or in the field

Annual base salary: $176,000–$264,000 USD for the primary location; additional US locations: $148,200–$264,000 USD.

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of APIs, backend services, and platform features for Product Engineering.
• Translate product requirements into service boundaries, domain models, and API endpoints using OpenAPI and internal standards.
• Build REST, GraphQL, SOAP, and emerging agent-oriented integration patterns.
• Improve latency, scalability, capacity, caching, resiliency, and reliability across mission-critical flows.
• Implement observability through metrics, tracing, logging, and dashboards.
• Participate in design and code reviews, technical documentation, mentoring, on-call, incident response, and root-cause analysis.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of software development engineering experience and at least 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong object-oriented design, domain modeling, SOLID principles, architectural patterns, and maintainable service design.
• Experience designing scalable, secure APIs with REST, SOAP, GraphQL, OpenAPI/Swagger, and integration patterns.
• Experience with high-scale systems, complex product domains, high transaction volumes, testing methodologies, Git, continuous delivery, and advanced development practices.
• Ability to apply algorithms and data structures, including graphs, concurrency, caching, request routing, and API orchestration.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Exposure to MCP or similar agent/tool integration models.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.
