UAS Operations Specialist (Drone Delivery)

Location: San Francisco, CA, United States. On-site work includes outdoor operations, equipment handling, aircraft staging, flight testing, and flexible day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Base pay: $28.40–$41.80 per hour.

What you will do

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, repairs, rigging, component replacement, bench testing, and airworthiness verification across the commercial UAS fleet.
• Diagnose avionics, electrical, mechanical, software, telemetry, and maintenance-system faults using hand tools, multimeters, and component-level repair techniques.
• Conduct preflight inspections, ground engine or motor runs, post-maintenance test flights, system validation, and approved Part 107 flight-test activities.
• Maintain aircraft logs, component histories, airworthiness records, training and qualification records, and other FAA- and company-required documentation.
• Manage spare parts, tools, ground support equipment, battery systems, aircraft staging, site setup, repositioning, and mission coordination.
• Collaborate with Flight Test, Reliability Engineering, and other technical teams to evaluate failures, improve procedures, identify hazards, and support safe, scalable drone delivery operations.

Requirements

• FAA Remote Pilot Certificate under Part 107 required.
• Practical experience in UAS assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, or an equivalent technical field.
• Proficiency with hand tools, multimeter testing, soldering, telemetry log analysis, and electromechanical component repairs.
• Ability to complete required training, knowledge and competency evaluations, recurrent checks, standardization requirements, and aircraft rating checks.
• Ability to follow manuals, checklists, SOPs, operating limitations, and flight-test procedures while exercising sound operational judgment.
• Ability to work outdoors with extended standing and equipment handling, maintain safety-sensitive eligibility, and participate in required FAA/DOT drug and alcohol testing.

Nice to have

• Technical aviation background or experience with commercial UAS fleet operations.
• Experience supporting flight-test programs, reliability engineering, or aircraft system validation.
• Potential qualification to serve as a Maintenance Technician subject to company authorization and FAA approval when required.
