Staff Software Engineer (OIG)

Location: Bellevue, Washington; the employee must be on US soil, including the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or US outlying areas.

Annual base salary: $174,000–$239,000 USD; location-specific range of $194,000–$267,000 USD for California excluding the San Francisco Bay Area, Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington.

What you will do

• Own feature areas end to end, from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, and post-launch monitoring.
• Design, build, and ship production-ready features across the OIG access governance system.
• Architect and evolve product capabilities for different access governance personas.
• Deliver bug fixes and resolve customer-reported issues.
• Write maintainable, well-tested code and uphold high engineering standards.
• Collaborate with Product Development, QA, and Site Reliability Engineering on development and deployment.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience and the ability to independently deliver complex production features.
• Experience architecting and delivering large-scale distributed systems for enterprise customers.
• Deep knowledge of microservices, event-driven architectures, APIs, and data modeling at scale.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Go, or equivalent JVM/cloud-native backend languages.
• Experience designing systems for enterprise reliability, scalability, security, multi-tenancy, high availability, audit logging, and RBAC/ABAC.
• Must be on US soil; there is no citizenship requirement.

Nice to have

• Experience building identity, access management, or identity governance products.
• Familiarity with workflow engines, finite state machines, or approval and routing systems.
• Experience with enterprise SaaS platforms and cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with modern observability tooling.
• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent.
