Senior Staff Software Engineer - Detection & Discovery (AI)

Location: Atlanta, Georgia, United States; office-first culture with three days per week in the office for most roles

Annual base salary: $165,000–$247,500 USD for candidates based in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, and Washington.

What you will do

• Own the technical evolution, maintenance, and production support of Data Discovery and Data Catalog services and modules.
• Reduce technical debt, resolve critical issues, and modernize code and architecture while maintaining customer stability.
• Improve the reliability, performance, observability, and operability of discovery and catalog pipelines.
• Design and build Java services, APIs, and reusable connectors to discover AI models, agents, and cloud resources.
• Develop secure, continuous, scheduled, and incremental discovery across customer accounts, projects, subscriptions, and regions.
• Lead architecture and multi-quarter initiatives, drive incident resolution, and mentor engineers across teams.

Requirements

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience with substantial hands-on Java and Spring development.
• Experience designing and delivering distributed, cloud-native services and production APIs at enterprise scale.
• Hands-on debugging experience in Linux and Kubernetes environments, including networking, DNS, TLS, HTTP, proxies, and firewalls.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, workflow or event-driven architectures, failure handling, retries, idempotency, and observability.
• Experience designing secure, multi-tenant SaaS systems and integrating external platforms through provider APIs and identity models.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with data discovery, data catalogs, scanning, ingestion, or asset-inventory platforms.
• Experience applying AI or machine learning to discovery, data, or catalog workflows.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud APIs, Amazon Bedrock, Azure AI Foundry, or Vertex AI.
• Experience with Temporal, connector frameworks, Kafka, CI/CD, or cloud-native production operations.
• Familiarity with AI governance, security, privacy, compliance, or other regulated enterprise domains.
