Manager, Legal Knowledge Engineering (AI)

Location: Hybrid, with at least 3 days per week in the office in Toronto, Denver, Raleigh, Holmdel, Philadelphia, or Chicago.

Salary: $110,000–$130,000 USD annually for Colorado, New Jersey, and Illinois applicants; $150,000–$180,000 CAD annually for Canada-only applicants. The role is also eligible for a company bonus plan.

What you will do

• Lead the development of legal technology products and features within Kira and other hirify.global products.
• Guide a team of Legal Knowledge Engineering Associates and oversee testing outcomes.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and design teams to define product vision.
• Experiment with generative AI and create prompts for accurate information extraction from document sets.
• Design, conduct, and analyze robust AI testing to improve product accuracy and reliability.
• Monitor developments in the legal domain, identify product opportunities, and improve processes and efficiencies.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience practicing transactional law in a large law firm, in-house environment, or legal service provider.
• Hands-on experience with AI, including prompting, training, or building AI-driven products.
• JD degree and admission to the bar in at least one state or province.
• Strong interest in legal technology and artificial intelligence.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and strong client service skills.
• Availability to work in a hybrid office environment at least 3 days per week.

• Experience working at a technology company.
• Experience with legal operations, program management, or contract management systems.
• Experience identifying workflow inefficiencies and implementing improvements.
• Comfort experimenting with unfamiliar technology, including vibe coding.
• Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
