Senior Fullstack Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Toronto, Ontario, with in-office collaboration required Monday through Wednesday

Salary: CA$140K–CA$200K base pay, plus equity

What you will do

• Design and build full-stack features for Alfie, hirify.global’s conversational AI assistant, with primary ownership of frontend and UX.
• Apply prompt design, tool and function calling, multi-step agent reasoning, evaluation, and observability to improve assistant behavior.
• Prototype conversational and generative AI interaction patterns, including streaming responses, fallback states, wrong-answer recovery, and human-in-the-loop experiences.
• Build and maintain React and TypeScript frontend components, backend services, APIs, and contracts supporting agentic workflows.
• Troubleshoot frontend, backend, and AI-specific production issues such as latency, bad model output, and dropped tool calls.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design discussions, code reviews, and technical quality standards.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional full-stack software engineering experience with strong frontend and UX expertise.
• 1+ years of hands-on experience building LLM-powered or agentic products.
• Experience building conversational interfaces, copilots, assistants, or other AI-powered products, including dynamic UI techniques.
• Strong command of React and TypeScript, plus experience integrating frontends with backend services, APIs, and real-time streaming data.
• Understanding of LLM design patterns, prompt engineering, and observability for agentic systems.
• Ability to collaborate in the Toronto office Monday through Wednesday and work across the full stack when needed.
