Legal Engineer - QA (AI)

Location: Lehi, Utah, United States, or remote within the US

Salary: $155,000–$165,000 per year, including on-target earnings, base salary, and variable compensation where applicable.

What you will do

• Define legal correctness for AI outputs and design, build, and implement repeatable quality evaluations.
• Develop software tools and platforms that help product teams maximize legal quality.
• Advise product managers, engineering managers, and designers on legal accuracy, specifications, prompts, taxonomies, and product copy.
• Identify and validate improvements to prompts, agentic workflows, existing systems, features, and technologies.
• Help customers derive more value from their legal data by improving system performance and reliability.

Requirements

• JD, LLB, or equivalent legal qualification, or a bachelor's degree plus 3+ years of direct experience in legal practice, legal knowledge management, or legal operations.
• Experience building executable software systems that work with legal data and improve legal workflows.
• Experience with structured data and formats including JSON, XML, and Markdown.
• Experience using agentic AI systems for legal and software development tasks.
• Strong verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal, time-management, prioritization, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both lawyers and technologists.

Nice to have

• Experience evaluating non-deterministic systems, including data curation and generation, grading, metrics, and evaluation techniques.
• Experience building and improving agentic workflows for legal tasks.
• Knowledge of computational law techniques outside machine learning.
• Familiarity with harness development, AI-assisted software development lifecycle practices, or full-stack development.
