Distribution Project Planner I & II, ANS (Utilities)

Location: San Diego, California, United States. Hybrid work with a mix of remote work, client or work-site presence, and time in an office or center. Regular in-person collaboration is expected.

What you will do

• Visit work sites, collect information, and determine scope for low- to moderate-complexity additions and modifications to gas and electric distribution facilities.
• Develop safe, reliable, cost-effective designs that comply with company policies, safety orders, and CPUC regulations.
• Meet with customers to identify design limitations and requirements, and present suitable design options.
• Prepare service orders, field memos, and light construction work orders.
• Identify site-specific obstacles and provide recommendations on scope, customer communication, regulations, and standards.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of experience working on utility distribution system projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Geographical Information Systems, Microsoft Office applications, Smartsheet, SAP, and web-based applications.
• Experience designing overhead, underground, or gas distribution systems.
• Knowledge of distribution design and engineering principles, CPUC rules, gas and electric theory, standard practices, and construction calculations.
• Ability to communicate design approaches and decisions with project teams and customers.

Nice to have

• Experience substituting for a project manager or project designer in project meetings.
• Experience collaborating with designers, planners, and project managers on design matters.
• Experience managing design files, comments, and design iterations.
