VP, Head of Engineering Practice (AI)

Location: Hybrid, three days per week in the Jersey City or Raleigh offices, United States; fully remote work is also available with frequent travel to Northeast offices

Salary: $200,000–$311,000 per year for Jersey City/NYC Metro; $155,000–$241,000 per year for Raleigh Metro

What you will do

• Define and execute engineering strategy for initiatives, shared services, policies, and standards.
• Lead engineering practice meetings, workgroups, and guilds across Engineering, Infrastructure, and Security.
• Drive the creation of reusable libraries, templates, frameworks, and reference implementations.
• Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, high-performance cloud-native and API-first applications.
• Drive adoption of DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and modern full-stack engineering practices.
• Collaborate with product and business leaders on AI-driven solutions, mentor junior engineers, and promote knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Principal Engineer or senior technology leadership experience with a strong hands-on full-stack background.
• 15+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in senior technology leadership.
• Experience leading large engineering teams and delivering complex enterprise solutions.
• Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Angular, relational and non-relational databases, Microsoft Azure, microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native architectures, API-first design, software engineering practices, design patterns, and architectural principles.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills; a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required, with a master’s degree preferred.

• Insurance property and casualty domain experience.
