Databricks Data Engineer (AI)

Location: United States; Washington, DC metro area. Hybrid remote, with training delivered virtually and access to DHS systems required.

Salary: $175,000–$195,000 annually

What you will do

• Serve as a key Databricks data engineer and instructor for a FEMA-OEHP data engineering modernization program.
• Plan and deliver customized training, bootcamps, weekly seminars, hands-on labs, and individual tutoring for up to 20 participants.
• Build project-based exercises covering vector search, data pipelines, predictive compliance-review models, AI agents, audit logging, and reporting.
• Integrate Databricks with SharePoint, Power BI, ESRI ArcGIS Pro, Power Platform, and related data sources.
• Teach Databricks, SQL, Python, PySpark, lakehouse architecture, Spark, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
• Create assessments, a tiered training program, and a Train-the-Trainer standard operating procedure.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field, with 12 years of experience or commensurate expertise.
• Deep hands-on experience with Databricks, SQL and PySpark notebooks, Jobs/Workflows, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and MLflow.
• Experience with vector search, data pipeline construction and orchestration, AI model development, agentic workflows, and AI Gateway tooling.
• Proficiency with Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Fx, SQL, Python, regular expressions, and Git.
• Demonstrated experience developing and delivering technical training, hands-on labs, or bootcamp instruction.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a suitability/Public Trust clearance, maintain DHS computer access, and comply with DHS security requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating Databricks with SharePoint, Power BI, ESRI ArcGIS Pro/Online, and Genie.
• Experience creating Train-the-Trainer SOPs or instructional design materials.
• Experience with federal or DHS training, data modernization, or compliance-review programs.
