Senior Cloud Data Engineer (Remote)

Location: Fully remote within the United States

Salary: $195,000–$225,000 annually

What you will do

• Design, provision, configure, and standardize cloud-based data workspaces for the VA Data Modernization initiative.
• Lead migrations from on-premises infrastructure to cloud-based solutions.
• Automate user intake, workspace creation, data access, and other cloud provisioning workflows.
• Configure Databricks workspaces, service principals, personas, access controls, security settings, catalogs, linked services, and mount points.
• Integrate Databricks with the VHA Data Lake and support governed data discovery and access.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration, troubleshoot workspace and access issues, and provide user support and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years of experience in information technology, engineering, or a related field, or commensurate experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
• Experience with Azure or other major cloud platforms, Databricks workspace administration, data lakes, ETL, relational databases, and SQL.
• Experience with IAM, service principals, RBAC, persona-based configurations, and cloud provisioning automation using tools such as Terraform, ARM, Bicep, PowerShell, or Python.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a suitability/Public Trust clearance.
• Must be located in the United States.

Nice to have

• Databricks Certified, Azure Data Engineer, or AZ-900 certification.
• Experience with AWS, ADF, Spark SQL, Synapse, Azure Storage, Event Hubs, Logic Apps, Power BI, SharePoint, and database design.
• Experience supporting public-sector or healthcare data environments.
