Staff Network Engineer (AI)

Location: United States-based applicants are referenced for California, Illinois, and Georgia salary ranges.

Salary: $149,700–$187,100 for California-based applicants; $123,400–$154,200 for Illinois and Georgia-based applicants.

What you will do

• Drive enterprise and data center network architecture and design initiatives.
• Design, implement, and support next-generation firewalls, VPNs, NAT, segmentation, secure connectivity, and high-availability security infrastructure.
• Build and troubleshoot routing and switching solutions using BGP, VXLANs, VRFs, redundancy, and enterprise and data center connectivity.
• Design and support DNS, F5 load balancing, application traffic flows, SSL/TLS, health monitoring, and high availability.
• Provide operational support, incident resolution, root-cause analysis, upgrades, maintenance, performance analysis, and lifecycle management.
• Improve observability, automation, reliability, security, and documentation while collaborating with cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, application, manufacturing, vendors, and service providers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, information systems, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of network engineering experience in large-scale enterprise or data center environments.
• Hands-on expertise with next-generation firewalls, preferably Palo Alto Networks, including security policies, NAT, segmentation, high availability, and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of zero-trust security, remote-access and site-to-site VPN, BGP, STP, VXLANs, VRFs, DHCP/DNS, TCP/IP, F5 BIG-IP/LTM, cloud connectivity, and wireless networking.
• Experience with network automation and Infrastructure as Code using Python, Ansible, APIs, Terraform, or similar technologies.
• Ability to lead technical work, communicate architecture decisions and tradeoffs, mentor engineers, and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.

Nice to have

• CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE, or equivalent certification.
• Experience with AI-assisted engineering tools or agentic workflows.
• Experience with SD-WAN, software-defined networking, and large distributed environments.
