MES Technical Support Engineer (Manufacturing IT)

Location: Normal, Illinois, United States; onsite manufacturing plant support

Salary: $63,300–$79,100 per year for Illinois-based applicants

What you will do

• Act as an escalation point for MES incidents and minimize downtime in factory operations.
• Implement configuration changes for manufacturing applications, including line rebalancing and station changes.
• Support plant commissioning teams during manufacturing system launches.
• Collaborate with product teams, process engineers, tooling teams, security, controls, and networking teams to define and deploy plant-floor configurations.
• Identify process pain points, perform root cause analysis, and automate repetitive work using SRE principles.
• Maintain system documentation and train Operations Analysts on daily processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year of experience with manufacturing IT systems.
• Experience with MES applications such as FTPC, Kepware, or Ignition.
• Knowledge of manufacturing systems and processes, including MES and quality systems.
• Basic troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts when required for operational objectives.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of CI/CD, SQL, Active Directory, PLC live data tags, log monitoring, or basic scripting.
• Experience with Java, PowerShell, Ansible, application containerization, or Kubernetes.
