Patient Care Technician (Cardiac Medicine)

Location: 251 E. Huron, Chicago, Illinois, United States; onsite night shift.

Salary: $24.26 per hour

What you will do

• Support registered nurses with direct and indirect patient care activities.
• Measure and document vital signs, intake and output, blood glucose, patient observations, and other clinical information.
• Apply cardiac monitors and oximetry, obtain EKGs, perform phlebotomy, collect specimens, and assist with respiratory equipment.
• Provide personal care, newborn care where assigned, mobility assistance, nutrition support, and pre- and post-operative care.
• Respond to call lights and emergencies, initiate basic life support, transport patients, and report changes in condition to the RN.
• Maintain room readiness, equipment, supplies, documentation, quality controls, and a safe and clean care environment.

Requirements

• CNA certification or current enrollment in a School of Nursing with completed basic clinical rotations.
• CPR recognition from the American Heart Association, BLS for Healthcare Providers.
• High school diploma required.
• Unit-based recognition for Capillary Blood Glucose Monitoring and successful completion of mandatory health and safety training.
• Previous healthcare experience and the ability to work effectively with patients, families, nursing staff, and medical staff are preferred.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
