TL;DR
Lead Accountant - Tax (Indirect Tax/Financial Services): Supporting indirect tax reporting for a financial services company through tax return preparation, data analysis, account reconciliations, and state and local audit support with an accent on sales and use tax, property tax, and large-scale data processing. Focus on researching transaction taxability, determining filing jurisdictions, improving data workflows, and preparing accurate reporting inputs.
Location: Irving, TX; hybrid schedule with three days in the office, Tuesday through Thursday

What you will do
- Accumulate, analyze, transform, and process accounting data for tax returns, workpapers, reporting, and business intelligence.
- Support the preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns and property tax renditions with internal teams and external tax consultants.
- Gather documentation for tax filings and facilitate accounting data flows into external tax applications.
- Assist with state and local indirect tax audits and research transaction taxability and filing jurisdictions.
- Perform monthly indirect tax account reconciliations and post journal entries as needed.
- Collaborate with business and finance teams to improve tax reporting processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years of indirect tax experience in corporate or public accounting.
- Experience processing large volumes of data accurately and preparing data for reporting and analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
- Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
- Strong computer skills and technical aptitude.
Nice to have
- CPA certification.
- Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools.
