Associate Director, Private Markets Accounting

Location: Union, New Jersey, United States (hybrid)

Salary: $91,000–$190,000 USD per year, with potential discretionary bonus and/or equity awards.

What you will do

• Oversee accounting and administration for multiple alternative investment funds, primarily private equity funds.
• Manage client relationships, deliverable schedules, expectations, and new business discussions.
• Review fund governing documents, transaction records, work papers, fee calculations, investor allocations, and capital account statements.
• Review capital calls, distributions, cash sources and uses, investor notices, and carried-interest distribution waterfall models.
• Prepare or review financial statements, disclosures, supporting schedules, and robust deliverable review procedures.
• Lead year-end audits and manage, mentor, hire, and evaluate professional staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 12+ years of accounting experience focused on alternative investment funds; private equity experience is preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience supervising two or more professional staff.
• Experience making hiring and termination decisions and providing continuous performance feedback.
• Strong leadership, project management, multitasking, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills.
