Focus on designing physics-based algorithms, solver architectures, verification and validation against test or flight data, and mentoring engineers while shaping simulation infrastructure.

Location: Hybrid work near Denver, Colorado, or Long Beach, California; some work must be performed onsite.

Base salary: $140,000–$215,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

Company

hirify.global develops autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, mission software, and space-based interceptors for space superiority and defense.

What you will do

  • Design and implement high-fidelity, multi-physics simulations for spacecraft subsystems, including dynamics, thermal systems, attitude control, propulsion, power, sensors, and actuators.
  • Develop coupled-physics algorithms, time-stepping methods, solver architectures, and integration schemes for real-time and faster-than-real-time simulation.
  • Build and maintain performant, backward-compatible C++ and Python APIs for mission planning, GNC, and systems engineering users.
  • Write production-quality, maintainable, testable C++ and create documentation, examples, and user guides.
  • Drive architecture and technical decisions, conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to planning, risk assessment, and technical interviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, physics, applied mathematics, or equivalent experience.
  • 5–8 years of professional software development experience focused on simulation, scientific computing, or aerospace applications.
  • Proficiency in modern C++17 or newer, STL, templates, performance optimization, Python API design, scripting, and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of at least one relevant domain, such as ADCS, GNC, thermal control, electric power systems, propulsion, orbital mechanics, or HIL/SIL systems.
  • Experience defining and executing verification and validation plans for physics-based models, including uncertainty quantification and validation against test or flight data.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations; must be eligible for DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience with aerospace or defense modeling and simulation, numerical ODE/DAE solvers, numerical linear algebra, sparse matrices, or automatic differentiation.
  • Knowledge of coordinate frames, quaternion mathematics, orbital mechanics, HIL/SIL environments, and interfaces to flight software or embedded hardware.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD, CMake or Bazel, testing frameworks, parallel computing, Docker, or cloud platforms.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hybrid work environment with in-office collaboration and catered lunches for onsite employees.
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA/HRA options.
  • Flexible time off or up to 25 accrued PTO days for non-exempt employees, plus paid holidays, parental leave, and sick leave.
  • 401(k) retirement plan, fitness reimbursement, and equity participation.
