Senior Ground Software Engineer (Satellite Systems)

What you will do

• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain ground software for satellite command and control, telemetry, telemetry databases, and ground stations.
• Build real-time data acquisition, processing, visualization, monitoring, and satellite operations automation systems.
• Integrate and test ground software with satellites, ground stations, network infrastructure, spacecraft software, and hardware simulators.
• Conduct software testing, validation, simulations, and troubleshooting during satellite operations.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, satellite operators, program management, and software teams.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the software development team.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience focused on satellite ground systems.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Prior experience as a satellite operator and experience leading a software team through product development.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, and C++.
• Knowledge of satellite communication protocols, including CCSDS and CSP, RF communication principles, ground station hardware, and RF coding schemes such as DVBS2.
• Experience with TCP/IP, UDP, network architectures, cloud-based systems, Linux/Unix administration, Agile, DevOps, and cybersecurity for satellite and ground systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with the Space Development Agency NEBULA standard.
• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
