TL;DR
Software Engineer II, Spacecraft Simulation (C++): Building high-fidelity multi-physics simulation libraries and infrastructure for spacecraft systems with an accent on 6DOF dynamics, thermal systems, propulsion, power, and attitude control. Focus on designing coupled-physics algorithms, numerical solvers, and multilingual simulation APIs for spacecraft design, control validation, mission analysis, and real-time simulation.

Location: Fully onsite in Denver, Colorado or Long Beach, California; candidates must be based in or able to commute to the selected office daily.

Base salary: $90,000–$140,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

Company

hirify.global develops autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, mission software, and space-based interceptors for space superiority and defense.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain high-fidelity, multi-physics simulation libraries for spacecraft systems.
  • Model 6DOF rigid-body dynamics, environmental perturbations, thermal systems, attitude control, propulsion, power, sensors, and actuators.
  • Implement coupled-physics algorithms, time-stepping methods, solver architectures, and integration schemes for real-time and faster-than-real-time simulation.
  • Build and maintain Python and C++ APIs used by internal applications for mission planning, spacecraft operations, and trade-space analysis.
  • Write efficient, maintainable modern C++ code and participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, physics, a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 1–3 years of professional C++ experience and experience with Python for scripting and prototyping.
  • Strong object-oriented software development and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of complex distributed systems and how simulation components integrate into larger systems.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance are required.
  • Must work onsite daily from the Denver or Long Beach office.

Nice to have

  • Experience with physics-based modeling and simulation, spacecraft dynamics, thermal systems, or control algorithms.
  • Knowledge of ODE solvers, integration schemes, numerical linear algebra, matrix computations, and sparse matrix techniques.
  • Experience with ADCS, GNC, thermal control, electric power, propulsion, coordinate frames, quaternions, orbital mechanics, and perturbation forces.
  • Experience with model validation, verification, uncertainty quantification, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.

Culture & Benefits

  • Interdisciplinary work connecting military objectives, theoretical physics, and spacecraft and ground-system control.
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA/HRA options.
  • Flexible time off or accrued PTO of up to 25 days for non-exempt employees, plus 12 paid holidays, parental leave, and sick leave.
  • 401(k) plan, fitness reimbursement, equity participation, catered lunches, and office snacks.
