TL;DR
Community Resilience Welfare Officer (Community Welfare Support): Providing practical, preventative and person-centred support to families and residents in Havering with an accent on housing advice, benefits access, resettlement and community integration. Focus on managing welfare caseloads, coordinating with partner organisations, preventing homelessness and supporting safe accommodation arrangements.

Location: Romford and Rainham, United Kingdom; office-based work across Central Library, Rainham Library and Harold Hill Library.

Salary: £35,520–£38,739 per year. Fixed-term contract until the end of June 2028.

What you will do

  • Provide practical, preventative and person-centred welfare support to families and newly settled residents.
  • Help residents access housing advice, benefits, education, health services, English language support and community integration.
  • Support safe accommodation arrangements and help prevent homelessness.
  • Manage caseloads, maintain accurate records and monitor support activity using case management and Microsoft systems.
  • Work with Council services, voluntary-sector partners, sponsors, landlords and community organisations to resolve issues.
  • Contribute to service improvement and positive resettlement outcomes.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in customer-focused or community support work.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable residents, managing caseloads and working with partner agencies is desirable.
  • Strong communication, organisation, casework, problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and maintain accurate confidential records.
  • Numeracy and literacy, cultural awareness, sound judgement and a commitment to safeguarding, equality and resident-focused support.
