Employment Specialist

Location: Iowa City, Iowa, United States; hybrid work with office, remote, and field time within the service delivery area

Salary: $21.00–$22.80 per hour

What you will do

• Conduct client intake, assessments, program orientations, employment planning, and budget strategy development.
• Provide job-readiness and job-search coaching and connect refugees and qualified immigrants with employment opportunities.
• Build long-term relationships with employers, staffing agencies, and community service providers.
• Support clients and employers after placement, monitor job performance and wage levels, and track employment outcomes.
• Document client interactions, maintain databases, and support program reporting.
• Travel throughout the service delivery area using a personal insured vehicle or public transportation; occasionally train support staff, volunteers, and interns.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field is preferred.
• Relevant professional experience in workforce development is required; at least two years of experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience working with refugee or immigrant populations is strongly preferred.
• Strong relationship-building, diplomacy, networking, communication, problem-solving, prioritization, and organizational skills.
• Proficient spoken and written English required. Proficiency in languages spoken by client groups is desired.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, a valid driver’s license, and access to a personal insured vehicle.
