Functional Validation Engineer (Satellite Payload Software)

What you will do

• Translate functional validation requirements into automated Java test procedures and maintain associated scripts and configuration files.
• Prepare and operate SATSIM numerical and hardware RF test benches, including modems, signal generators, spectrum analysers, and DC power supplies.
• Execute functional validation and software non-regression campaigns for new payload software releases.
• Investigate observations and anomalies, perform initial fault isolation, and manage defects and validation issues in Jira.
• Compare SATSIM and hardware bench results, upload test evidence and logs, and maintain full validation traceability.
• Support test strategy, specifications, documentation, risk management, and coordination with distributed teams in Toulouse and Portsmouth.

Requirements

• Experience in software verification, validation, integration testing, or a similar complex engineering environment.
• Strong Java development skills for automated test creation and maintenance.
• Experience with Linux, Git or SVN, Jira, Confluence, software lifecycle processes, traceability, and configuration management.
• Experience with hardware and software integration testing and strong analytical troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of RF principles, RF test equipment, hardware RF environments, CCSDS standards, telecommand, telemetry, PUS packets, TM frames, TC segments, CLTUs, and CLCW.
• Ability to work independently with distributed technical stakeholders in a safety-critical and controlled engineering environment.

Nice to have

• Python development and experience with MobaXterm.
• Satellite communications systems or aerospace and space industry experience.
• Safety-critical software validation experience.
• Experience with numerical simulation environments such as SATSIM.
