What you will do
- Validate and verify embedded systems incorporating processors, microcontrollers, and Linux-based platforms.
- Design and execute comprehensive test plans for hardware components integrated with firmware and software.
- Develop automated test tools, frameworks, and simulation environments for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and system-level testing.
- Perform integration testing across hardware, firmware, networking, and application software layers.
- Conduct root-cause analysis of complex system issues using oscilloscopes, protocol analysis tools, and system logs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure product reliability and support regulatory compliance (CE, UL, IEC, IEEE).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering.
- At least three years of industry experience in embedded systems validation, hardware verification, or test automation.
- Proficiency in developing automated test solutions using Python, C#, LabVIEW, or similar languages.
- Strong understanding of digital and analogue electronics and electrical engineering principles.
- Experience with Linux-based embedded platforms and version control tools such as Git.
- Must be based in or able to work from Glasgow, United Kingdom.
Nice to have
- Experience with industrial communication protocols including IEC 61850, DNP3, and Modbus.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, and signal generators.
- Knowledge of networking equipment, precision timing (GPS, PTP, NTP), and packet analysis tools like Wireshark.
- Experience with cybersecurity testing, vulnerability assessment, or IEC 62443 requirements.
- Exposure to grid power system applications like digital fault recording (DFR) or synchrophasors (PMU).
