Generator Technician OSU-IT (Natural Gas Generators)

Location: Field offices in Abilene, Texas; Covington, Georgia; Denver, Colorado; Midland, Texas; San Antonio, Texas; and Watford City, North Dakota. The role follows a 14-days-on, 7-days-off travel rotation.

What you will do

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and test natural gas generators and associated power-generation equipment.
• Perform inspections and recommend repairs to improve generator reliability.
• Adjust breaker settings and modify electrical and mechanical wiring in generator control circuits.
• Use multimeters, ammeters, megohmmeters, and other measuring equipment to identify faults.
• Remove, install, disassemble, assemble, clean, and inspect components with minimal supervision.
• Train other technicians, maintain electronic records, and keep job sites clean and safe.

Requirements

• Experience with natural gas engines; experience with large Caterpillar or Jenbacher natural gas generators is preferred.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills for engines, generators, AC/DC controls, and engine control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, schematic diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, generator maintenance, and failure-analysis procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication, customer-service, and technical skills.
• Valid driver's license, basic computer skills, ability to lift 50 pounds, and adherence to required safety practices.
