Engineering Build Specialist (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, CA, USA; onsite work in the Playa Vista office and manufacturing lab

What you will do

• Build, route, terminate, shield, and pot complex satellite wire and coaxial harnesses.
• Assemble test racks and FlatSats using precision fastening, bonding, and alignment techniques.
• Perform assembly, integration, and testing activities for satellite and spacecraft development projects.
• Use oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and spectrum analyzers for continuity, insulation resistance, and power-on self-tests.
• Maintain as-built records, logs, and red-line drawings for flight-component traceability.
• Follow ESD-safe and ISO-class cleanroom procedures while working with engineers and technicians.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in satellite or spacecraft assembly and integration, including aerospace structures, avionics integration, and harnessing.
• Active or prior certification in NASA-STD-8739 or IPC-J-STD-001 Space Addendum.
• Expert ability to read complex electrical schematics and 3D CAD models.
• Experience with Micro-D, Nano-D, and circular Mil-Spec high-density connectors, vacuum-compatible materials, and outgassing prevention.
• Precision measurement skills, strong safety awareness, and exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to work under a microscope, handle delicate wiring, work in a manufacturing lab, and carry up to 50 lb.
