Project Engineer (Mechanical Construction)

Location: London Plant-W Thurrock, United Kingdom; onsite, day-based role

Procter & Gamble operates a manufacturing plant where the role supports capital projects and operational equipment installations.

What you will do

• Manage small projects from feasibility and scope development through design, construction, commissioning, validation, and start-up.
• Develop project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, execution plans, work scopes, enquiry packages, and procurement documentation.
• Manage mechanical construction, equipment installation, contractor coordination, work permits, inspections, and site activities.
• Lead design reviews and evaluate technical supplier proposals, including Best Value Option Analyses.
• Coordinate commissioning checklists, functional and operational checks, equipment start-up, and handover to Operations.
• Monitor risks, safety, quality, regulatory compliance, documentation, and post-start-up issue resolution.

Requirements

• Extensive onsite engineering experience in chemical industry or comparable process-manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical construction, equipment installation, commissioning, and start-up.
• Experience managing projects from feasibility through final delivery and supervising contractors.
• Ability to read AutoCAD mechanical drawings, including general arrangements, isometrics, P&IDs, and 3D models.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, engineering standards, permit-to-work requirements, and relevant IEC and OSHA requirements.
• Strong project planning, organization, communication, collaboration, and prioritization skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office.
