Head of Clinical Research (Behavioural Medicine)

hirify.global’s Behavioural Medicine department conducts real-world evidence and clinical research.

What you will do

• Hold Principal Investigator responsibility for hirify.global’s real-world evidence studies, including legal, regulatory, ethical, and clinical governance accountability.
• Lead study protocols, statistical analysis plans, data management plans, governance documentation, intervention delivery, randomisation, adverse event reporting, protocol deviation management, and master file maintenance.
• Oversee quantitative and qualitative outcomes with data science colleagues and recruit and line-manage project-specific staff, including Health Coaches, research coordinators, and intervention designers.
• Lead or co-lead peer-reviewed publications, conference abstracts, presentations, and external scientific representation.
• Develop hirify.global’s clinical research strategy and pipeline, with oral medication research as the immediate priority, and build scalable research systems, templates, ethics frameworks, data standards, and publication workflows.
• Develop relationships with pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, public health organisations, and funding partners, including leading external funding initiatives.

Requirements

• PhD in a relevant discipline, such as clinical or health psychology, nutrition, public health, epidemiology, obesity research, or a related field.
• Experience as a Principal Investigator or equivalent lead on clinical or behavioural research studies, with full accountability for governance, ethics, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations in health, behavioural, or clinical research.
• Experience developing and maintaining external research partnerships with academic, NHS, pharmaceutical, or funding organisations.
• Strong knowledge of UK research governance frameworks, including GCP, HRA ethics submissions, and ICH guidelines.
• Experience with a variety of study designs and the ability to lead complex multi-outcome analysis plans.
• Strategic vision to build research infrastructure and a research pipeline rather than only execute individual studies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including representing hirify.global to external scientific and industry audiences and translating evidence into compelling internal narratives.

Nice to have

• Experience in obesity, weight management, GLP-1 pharmacotherapy, or digital health research.
• Established networks within the UK obesity research, academic, or clinical community.
• Experience securing external research funding or leading industry-academic partnership studies.
• Familiarity with real-world evidence study designs and large-scale digital health datasets.
• Experience in a scale-up or commercial digital health environment.
