Medical Director (Precision Medicine)

Location: Remote - US; align working hours with the team. hirify.global also lists offices in New York, NY and Durham.

What you will do

• Provide clinical oncology and precision medicine expertise for high-volume custom data requests across oncologic diseases, rare tumors, and complex multi-omic biomarker profiles.
• Partner with biopharma clients on target discovery, biomarker-defined cohorts, tumor biology, combination therapy strategies, and reverse translation of clinical trial findings.
• Apply clinical development and trial design principles to real-world evidence, including external control arms, historical cohorts, and synthetic control designs.
• Support pre-sales, client scoping, and solution development by translating clinical development plans and complex inclusion/exclusion criteria into data specifications.
• Collaborate with oncologists, clinicians, data scientists, epidemiologists, software engineers, product managers, account directors, and clinical data specialists on custom data solutions.
• Build internal training and clinical documentation, contribute to research studies, and present or speak at scientific conferences.

Requirements

• MD or equivalent with foundational training in oncology, hematology, or a related subspecialty.
• Oncology experience after subspecialty fellowship, with 1–3 years for Associate Medical Director or 3–5+ years for Medical Director.
• Direct experience with cancer genomics.
• Clinical, academic, or early industry experience after training.
• Familiarity with clinical trial design, protocol development, or early-phase Phase I/II clinical development.
• Deep clinical intuition and the ability to work across diverse low-incidence rare tumors and complex molecular landscapes.
• Ability to collaborate in a matrix-structured environment and explain technical medical and genomic concepts to non-clinical teams.
• Leadership, problem-solving, analytical, communication, multitasking, prioritization, and operational execution skills in a fast-paced technology-driven environment.

Nice to have

• Exposure to laboratory translational oncology, cancer genomics, or biomarker discovery research.
• Experience with precision medicine ownership at a scope appropriate for the Associate Medical Director or Medical Director level.
