Senior Software Engineer, Placer Intelligence (AI)

Annual base salary: $160,000–$190,000 USD

What you will do

• Partner with product, design, and customers to define solutions and turn ambiguous requirements into technical plans.
• Design, build, and ship production features across APIs, data models, services, and user interfaces.
• Build AI-powered product capabilities using LLMs, retrieval, agents, tool-calling flows, MCP, scoped permissions, and failure recovery.
• Develop evaluations from real user questions and measure prompts and model changes before release.
• Protect AI features against prompt injection, personal-data leaks, and inaccurate responses.
• Monitor and improve production systems, including AI cost, latency, tracing, debugging, testing, and reliability.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience shipping customer-facing production products.
• Strong full-stack experience with Python, FastAPI or similar frameworks, React, TypeScript, relational databases, SQL, and containerized cloud services.
• Strong system design skills covering data modeling, API design, scalability, reliability, performance, and security.
• Hands-on experience shipping LLM-powered features, including context engineering, retrieval, tools, memory, evaluations, model-failure handling, and AI system architecture.
• Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar, with ownership of code quality, tests, and reliability.
• Strong product sense, communication, collaboration, independent judgment, and comfort with ambiguity.
