Staff SW Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; at least 3 days per week in the office. The role requires 5–10% travel and is performed in an office setting.

Salary: $137,200–$219,700 USD per year, excluding potential bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable web services, microservices, tools, utilities, and client-facing enterprise applications.
• Translate business requirements into system designs, lead design and code reviews, and ensure reusable, secure, and high-quality code.
• Analyze performance, defects, data, and ML-model drift; identify root causes and improve resiliency, scalability, automation, and observability.
• Create complex test plans, address defects, support production implementations, and participate in on-call incident response.
• Develop SQL, NoSQL, Java, and Python solutions for data processing and AI/ML-related analysis.
• Document technical solutions and contribute to estimation, scoping, proof-of-concepts, and hirify.global Dispute domain analysis.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, 2+ years with an advanced degree, a PhD with no required experience, or 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with Java/J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, REST/SOAP web services, and enterprise-scale application development.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, distributed systems, microservices, containers, cloud technologies, and data processing.
• Proficiency with Python, Linux/UNIX, shell scripting, Git, build tools, testing automation, and secure software development practices.
• Experience with production debugging, root-cause analysis, Agile development, messaging systems, and CI/infrastructure automation.
• Ability to work from the Austin office at least 3 days per week and participate in 5–10% business travel.

Nice to have

• Experience with DB2, Cassandra, MySQL, Spark, ETL, Kafka, Kubernetes, OpenShift, S3, Jenkins, Ansible, Chef, or scheduling tools.
• Experience with generative AI, AI/ML, SAFe, payment processing, or transaction processing in the financial domain.
