Specialist, Technical Trainer (Defense Tech)

Location: Rochester, New York, United States; on-site work in a manufacturing environment

Salary: $63,500–$117,500 per year

What you will do

• Establish training requirements with customers and functional organizations.
• Analyze roles and performance standards to define master training lists, learning objectives, and course content.
• Design, develop, present, and update instructional materials, lesson plans, technical manuals, student guides, and practical exercises.
• Deliver classroom and hands-on technical training and conduct written, practical, and student performance evaluations.
• Work with supervisors and managers to adjust training for manufacturing upgrades and changing capabilities.
• Manage daily training-area operations, course administration, evaluations, grading, and supplies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree and at least 2 years of related experience.
• In lieu of a degree, at least 8 years of relevant experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Technical ability to understand complex information and translate it into clear instructional materials.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Some positions may require a security clearance; eligibility for classified access may require U.S. citizenship.

Nice to have

• Previous technical training or classroom instruction experience.
• Experience with Training Needs Analysis or Training Systems Requirements Analysis.
• Experience developing logistics product technical documentation and instructional materials.
• Familiarity with ITAR policies and procedures.
