Senior Software Development Engineer III - Profile Connect (Java)

Location: Welwyn Garden City, United Kingdom; hybrid work with 60% of the week in office or local sites and the remainder remotely

What you will do

• Develop and ship high-quality software solutions and medium to large features using Java and JVM technologies.
• Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, efficient microservices and supporting systems.
• Work with Azure and Terraform to automate infrastructure and improve delivery workflows.
• Implement CI/CD practices, workflow automation, monitoring, alerting, and engineering tools.
• Apply security-first architecture standards, including vulnerability management and secure coding with Snyk and Apiiro.
• Provide technical leadership, take ownership of delivery and system performance, and mentor fellow engineers.

Requirements

• Strong experience delivering software with Java or another JVM language; familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript is beneficial.
• Experience with Spring Boot or Micronaut, microservices, and system design.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS and infrastructure automation using Terraform.
• Good knowledge of SQL, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB or CouchDB.
• Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools including Splunk, xMatters, or New Relic, plus GitHub, Zendesk, and JIRA.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, technical project ownership, team leadership, and good English communication skills.
