What you will do
- Evolve the core infrastructure and shared platform functionality underpinning search.
- Design and implement horizontally scalable features and APIs.
- Improve developer productivity through automation and AI-enabled development workflows.
- Investigate and resolve complex performance, concurrency, stability, and operational issues end to end.
- Improve observability and operations for search cloud systems.
- Lead and contribute to cross-team projects while collaborating with search users and open-source projects.
Requirements
- Strong core Java skills, including concurrency, parallelism, classloaders, standard data structures, and newer language features.
- Experience designing APIs, applying algorithms and data structures, and reasoning through technical tradeoffs.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems and practices such as Buildkite, Argo CD, and GitOps.
- Experience leading large-scale engineering projects and owning them from technical design through delivery.
- Proven use of AI to accelerate development, debug complex systems, and optimize code.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively across distributed engineering teams.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of JDK internals, the Java memory model, garbage collection, database load, and caching techniques.
- Experience with observability and telemetry solutions, particularly OpenTelemetry.
- Knowledge of Go, containers, Kubernetes, and Java build tools such as Gradle or Maven.
- Experience working in a platform or developer productivity team.
