Headphones Embedded Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom; hybrid work with most office-based roles onsite three days a week.

What you will do

• Define the software strategy and technical vision for premium headphone products.
• Develop and support embedded firmware and the interfaces connecting headphones with mobile applications and cloud services.
• Translate product goals into practical software deliverables and contribute to product development and approval processes.
• Coordinate with embedded, mobile, cloud, quality assurance, product, technology, project, and leadership teams.
• Assess external engineering resources, workloads, commitments, and delivery against agreed plans.
• Promote maintainable code, reuse, automated verification, and long-term product support.

Requirements

• Extensive experience developing and testing embedded software in C and Python.
• Experience delivering clear, concise, well-documented commercial-quality code.
• Understanding of embedded systems and device drivers.
• Ability to communicate technical trade-offs and build consensus across multidisciplinary stakeholders.
• Baseline familiarity with using AI for efficiency, problem-solving, and quality.
• Ability to work in the Cambridge hybrid environment, with regular onsite collaboration.

Nice to have

• Degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related scientific discipline.
• Experience with Jira and Confluence in product-development environments.
• Knowledge of build systems, GitHub repository management, workflows, and automated testing.
• Knowledge of or interest in the audio market.
• Knowledge of Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy.
