Location: Vancouver Campus, Vancouver, BC, Canada. Full-time day-shift schedule with nine shifts from 6:37am to 3:30pm over a two-week period; every second Friday or Monday off.
Salary: CAD 6,977–7,443 per month; annual gross salary of CAD 86,232–91,992, or CAD 44.22–47.18 per hour. Additional premiums may apply for welding certification, BCIT welding courses, overtime, and evening or weekend shifts.

Building Operations provides mechanical maintenance, fabrication, repair, and renovation services across the university campus.
What you will do
- Fabricate eave troughs, downpipes, windows, doors, frameworks, countertops, fume hoods, and other galvanized iron, aluminum, and stainless-steel fixtures.
- Repair and maintain sheet metal installations supporting heating, ventilation, roofing, windows, and doors.
- Inspect machinery and equipment, diagnose defects, perform repairs, and recommend corrective solutions.
- Join metal components through welding, soldering, brazing, bolting, riveting, and screwing.
- Respond to service calls and emergencies, communicate with customers, and collaborate with other trades.
- Follow safety procedures, use protective clothing, and maintain knowledge of preventive maintenance and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Journeyperson-level trade certification as a Sheet Metal Worker.
- Valid BC driver's license.
- Minimum five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work from drawings, specifications, work orders, and oral or written instructions.
- Ability to work independently, analyze problems, resolve issues, and maintain productive working relationships.
