Design Engineer, Electric Transmission Line

Location: Oakland, California; hybrid work from a remote office and an assigned location within the PG&E Service Territory. Travel required approximately 10% of the time.

Hourly rate: $46.94–$78.14 USD, subject to collectively bargained wage increases.

What you will do

• Coordinate studies, sketches, calculations, and complex project data for electric transmission facilities.
• Develop conceptual designs for equipment relocations, replacements, capacity additions, reliability improvements, and automation upgrades.
• Prepare transmission design drawings, including structure requirements, plan and profile drawings, stringing, arrangement, hardware, and phasing drawings.
• Prepare bills of materials, conductor studies, technical reports, and presentations.
• Conduct design reviews and support construction administration by reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals.
• Coordinate with civil, substation, protection, engineering, and construction teams to deliver safe, timely, and cost-effective designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a qualifying equivalent combination of education and design drafting experience.
• Valid Class C California Driver’s License or higher required by the first day of employment.
• Experience with electric transmission design is preferred.
• Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, or PLS-CADD is preferred.
• Familiarity with PG&E standards and construction practices is preferred.
• PE or EIT certification is preferred.
