Lead Transmission Line Engineer (Electric Utilities)

Location: Fully remote, but the position can only be performed in the United States

Salary: $119,323–$202,850 per year

What you will do

• Lead complex transmission line designs from conceptual engineering through final design, including conductor sizing, induction, impedance, losses, and voltage-drop analysis.
• Perform and review conductor economic evaluations, lightning performance studies, grounding calculations, and electrical clearance determinations.
• Apply NERC, FERC, regional, and other applicable standards across project deliverables.
• Prepare and review specifications, data sheets, RFQs, bid evaluations, vendor drawings, purchase recommendations, technical reports, and production drawings.
• Collaborate with project managers on scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing, construction support, and change orders.
• Lead QA/QC, field inspections, installation reviews, client communication, and mentorship of less experienced engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Power Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of transmission line engineering experience and 8+ years working with an electric utility, EPC, or engineering consulting firm.
• 8+ years of experience using PLS-CADD.
• Experience with people management, mentoring, technical direction, and quality review of others’ work.
• Ability to plan and manage assignments, communicate barriers, and deliver work within budget and schedule.
• Must be able to perform the role remotely from within the United States.

Nice to have

• Practical knowledge of NESC, IEEE, ANSI, FERC-881, and FAC-008 standards.
