Safety Coordinator (EHS)

Location: Houston, Texas, or Chesapeake, Virginia. The role requires an active presence at service centers, facilities, and local shipyards, with approximately 50% travel including day trips and occasional overnight stays.

What you will do

• Support the EHS Director in coordinating day-to-day workplace safety activities and promoting a professional safety culture.
• Coordinate, facilitate, and document safety training, onboarding activities, compliance training, and technician qualifications.
• Maintain safety records, observations, incident information, Workers’ Compensation documentation, reports, and training materials.
• Participate in facility and shipyard site visits, safety audits, emergency drills, and annual safety stand-downs.
• Coordinate Safety Champion meetings and follow up on safety concerns, incomplete requirements, and corrective actions.
• Compile safety data and support reviews of OSHA-related requirements, safety trends, goals, and program documentation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Entry-level position; previous professional EHS experience is not required.
• Basic understanding of workplace safety practices or willingness to learn OSHA requirements and company procedures.
• Clear verbal and written communication, strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple assignments.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other company systems.
• Ability to work around machinery, wear required PPE, climb ladders and stairs, and stand for extended periods.

Nice to have

• Associate or bachelor’s degree, safety coursework, or relevant EHS training.
• Internship, school, military, manufacturing, service, shipyard, or other hands-on workplace experience.
• Experience presenting information, assisting with training, or maintaining documentation.
• Basic mechanical aptitude or interest in service and shipyard operations.
