Lead System Engineering - Database Architecture and Engineering (Terraform/AWS)

Location: Onsite in Atlanta, Georgia, USA; office presence is required at least 5 days per week. The role is available only at the posted location, and no relocation is offered.

Salary: $141,300–$237,400 USD annual.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain reusable Terraform modules and GitHub Actions workflows for database-ready infrastructure.
• Engineer compute, storage, networking, identity, security, backup, monitoring, and operating-system components across AWS, AWS Outposts, Azure, and hybrid environments.
• Translate requirements for Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, DB2, Informix, and SAP-related platforms into standardized infrastructure and deployment patterns.
• Integrate automation with enterprise identity, secrets, certificates, observability, backup, compliance, and service-management capabilities.
• Troubleshoot Terraform, pipeline, cloud, networking, access, storage, and operating-system issues while developing durable fixes and operational documentation.
• Provide technical leadership, coordinate focused workstreams, review designs and code, resolve cross-team issues, and coach engineers.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of production experience delivering Infrastructure-as-Code solutions with Terraform and automated deployment pipelines.
• At least 5 years of experience with AWS infrastructure services, including EC2, EBS, IAM, KMS, SSM, VPC, security groups, routing, DNS, Secrets Manager, and CloudWatch.
• At least 5 years of experience building or supporting CI/CD workflows with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or a comparable platform.
• Strong Linux systems engineering, troubleshooting, scripting or programming, Infrastructure as Code design, source control, testing, and release-management skills.
• Knowledge of least privilege, role-based access, encryption, secrets management, network segmentation, logging, auditability, and operational supportability.
• Ability to provide technical leadership, communicate clearly, collaborate across technical teams, and deliver complex assignments independently.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS Outposts, hybrid cloud, database-ready virtual machines, or large-scale cloud and database migrations.
• Knowledge of enterprise database platforms, high availability, replication, clustering, disaster recovery, and regulated workloads.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, enterprise identity platforms, OIDC, Terraform Enterprise, image lifecycle management, certificates, or secrets management.
• Cloud, Terraform, Linux, security, or database certifications; a bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
