Sourcing Intern (Summer 2027) (Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Support the procurement cycle by sourcing, quoting, negotiating, and issuing purchase orders for hardware, raw materials, fabricated parts, and consumables.
• Track open orders, deliveries, lead times, expediting needs, and purchase-order discrepancies through resolution.
• Maintain ERP/MRP data, including purchase orders, pricing, vendor records, lead times, and part statuses.
• Plan material needs from bills of materials, work orders, and engineering requirements while tracking parts through receiving, inspection, kitting, and build completion.
• Coordinate with engineering, production, and receiving to identify shortages, schedule risks, and documentation issues.
• Help identify, vet, onboard, and develop suppliers across machining, injection molding, PCBAs, electronics, testing, assembly, and related processes.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or graduate program in supply chain management, industrial or mechanical engineering, business, or a related field.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage shifting orders, priorities, and build requirements.
• Curiosity about manufacturing and comfort learning to read a bill of materials or engineering drawing.
• Direct and proactive communication skills with suppliers, engineers, and technicians.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for supplier visits.
• Must satisfy U.S. export-control and ITAR eligibility requirements, including U.S. person status or eligibility to obtain required authorizations.

Nice to have

• Prior internship or work experience in purchasing, procurement, or materials planning.
• Familiarity with supplier qualification, quality documentation, certificates of conformance, material certifications, or AS9100.
• Experience sourcing machining, PCBAs, electronics, testing, coatings, or nondestructive testing services.
