Supply Chain Engineering Internship (Summer 2027) (Aerospace Manufacturing): Managing build-to-print hardware programs and supplier quality from contract award through first article and production with an accent on supplier qualification, defect resolution, and delivery execution. Focus on reading drawings and GD&T, driving corrective actions, mitigating supply chain risks, and coordinating engineering, procurement, production, suppliers, and customers.
Location: El Segundo, California; onsite five days a week. The role requires travel of up to 25% to supplier facilities, factories, and customer sites.
Hourly pay: $30–$50 USD

What you will do
- Own assigned build-to-print contracts from award through first article and rate production.
- Convert customer technical data packages and contract requirements into requirements matrices and coordinate fulfillment across engineering, procurement, production, and suppliers.
- Build and manage schedules covering long-lead procurement, tooling, qualification, first article, and delivery milestones.
- Resolve supplier-caused defects through containment, material review, disposition, root cause analysis, and corrective action verification.
- Qualify and develop suppliers through capability assessments, quality-system reviews, onsite audits, AS9102 first article inspections, and improvement plans.
- Analyze supplier performance and supply chain risks, including capacity constraints, single-source exposure, long lead times, and obsolescence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another STEM discipline.
- At least 2 years of professional or internship experience in quality, manufacturing, process, or supply chain engineering.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, including GD&T, and interpret military and aerospace specifications.
- Experience owning a project or program with an external commitment, including building schedules and driving cross-functional execution.
- Ability to communicate directly with customers and suppliers about technical, quality, and schedule commitments.
- Must be a U.S. person under ITAR requirements, including U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or protected person status.
Nice to have
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or another regulated hardware industry.
- Technical program management, product ownership, or new product introduction experience.
- Experience with machined parts, avionics and PCBAs, or injection molding.
- AS9100 or comparable quality-management-system experience, supplier approval, or first article processes.
- Experience managing schedules in formal tools and reporting status to leadership or external customers.
