Actuary, Cat Pricing

Location: Hybrid position based out of offices in Warren, New York City, Stamford, or Philadelphia, United States

Salary: $119,000–$150,000 annually

What you will do

• Develop and execute catastrophe pricing strategies across perils including hurricane, earthquake, wildfire, and flood.
• Implement pricing frameworks incorporating catastrophe model outputs, climate insights, portfolio considerations, and underwriting objectives.
• Translate RMS, AIR, and other catastrophe model outputs into pricing metrics and underwriting guidance.
• Develop catastrophe pricing loads, technical pricing assumptions, segmentation, and enhancements to pricing tools.
• Monitor catastrophe accumulation, portfolio risk, rate adequacy, profitability, and return metrics.
• Support portfolio optimization using limits, attachment points, deductibles, and sublimit changes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of actuarial experience in property pricing.
• Expertise in catastrophe modeling platforms such as RMS and AIR.
• Strong understanding of catastrophe risk concepts and experience integrating catastrophe modeling into pricing and portfolio decisions.
• Advanced proficiency in analytics tools, with SQL and Python or R preferred.
• Ability to translate analytics into business action and communicate complex pricing concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
